PROJECT ARCHITECT

Boston, MA (Hybrid Opportunity)

Studio: Architecture

JGE is seeking an experienced Project Architect with 7-10+ years’ experience working on mixed-use, commercial and multifamily residential development projects involving frequent client interaction and inter-office leadership responsibilities. Prior experience with new construction, renovation, and/or adaptive reuse is preferred along with a solid understanding of MA state and local building codes and ordinances. The successful candidate must be flexible and able to work collaboratively within a high-performing team to support the work and advancement of JGE.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Comfortability leading a team and working collaboratively with designers, consultants, contractors, and owners

  • Engage in the office-wide culture of cross-mentorship and uplifting of voices from all backgrounds and experience platforms

  • Manage technical coordination and project scheduling

  • Lead the technical documentation aspects of the project

  • Engage in ongoing coordination with engineering disciplines and design-assist subcontractors

  • Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs)

  • Review and coordinate submittals and shop drawings

  • Coordinate and detail technical solutions in support of the design intent

  • Interface with regulatory authorities and inspectors concerning code compliance

  • Interface with owner-provided inspectors and project managers concerning quality control

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Architecture degree required; Master of Architecture degree preferred

  • 7-10+ years of professional experience

  • Registered Architect preferred but not required

  • LEED Accreditation and/or CPHC a plus but not required

  • Solid working knowledge of wood frame over steel/concrete podium construction and associated architectural detailing

  • Exceptional scheduling, staff, and time management skills

  • Experience providing Design and Construction Administration services

  • Experience with local and state building codes and tested life safety features

  • Experience with exterior envelope systems from design through construction completion

  • Experience with the development of construction documents

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Proactive approach to timely problem solving

  • Proficient use of Revit Architecture in a shared BIM environment is required

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel)

  • Proficiency in Revu Bluebeam PDF drawing coordination software

 

 

INTERIOR DESIGNER

Boston, MA (Hybrid Opportunity)

Studio: Interiors

JGE is seeking a talented and driven Interior Designer to join our growing interior design studio. The ideal candidate is passionate about design, thrives in a collaborative environment, can work well as part of a team and independently with some supervision. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, from concept development to construction documentation, and to help shape the future of JGE’s interior design service offerings.  

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop, design, and document projects from concept to construction documents, ensuring all interior aspects align with project goals.

  • Create compelling mood boards, presentations, and design options tailored to client needs.

  • Layout and configure interior spaces based on programmatic requirements, functional needs and code compliance.

  • When needed, visit project sites to analyze space availability, measure existing conditions and note design needs.

  • Select FF&E items (furniture, fixtures, and equipment) and demonstrate a basic understanding of lighting, acoustics, and other key design elements. Learn about the costs associated with various design elements.

  • Draft finish plans, reflected ceiling plans, furniture plans, millwork details, and other key construction documents.

  • Prepare schedules for lighting, plumbing, appliances, furniture, and finishes.

  • Communicate and present ideas clearly and effectively to clients, team members, company leadership, consultants and vendors.

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, balancing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.

  • Adapt to feedback and requests from leadership and clients with a positive, solution-oriented attitude.

  • Able to present and articulate design visions and project success strategies to clients.

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in interior design, architecture, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in interior design.

  • Proficiency in Revit, SketchUp, Enscape, and Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.

  • Strong graphic and communication skills, with the ability to present ideas effectively.

  • Experience in creating detailed construction documents and schedules.

  • Ability to develop multiple design options and provide creative solutions for diverse projects.

  • Great organizing, note taking and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

  • Soft skills to integrate seamlessly into a small, fast-growing team and collaborate effectively with others.

 

 

PROJECT DESIGNER

Boston, MA (Hybrid Opportunity)

Studio: Architecture

JGE is seeking an experienced Project Designer interested in working on a variety of multifamily housing and urban mixed-use commercial development projects through all stages of design and construction. Candidates will perform intermediary design and technical tasks requiring the application of standard practices and knowledge while working under the direct supervision of more experienced staff.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Development of planning and conceptual designs

  • Design and documentation support on projects

  • Assist in the production of contract documents

  • Participate in collaborative team meetings

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree; B Arch or M Arch desired

  • 1-4 years of professional experience

  • Strong Conceptual Design and Schematic Design skills

  • Strong analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills

  • Strong verbal and graphic communication skills

  • Ability to work within a diverse teams of designers

  • Proficiency in Sketchup or Rhino

  • Working knowledge of Revit, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign,

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Ability to participate in multiple projects with competing deadlines
